It would be useful to have the ability to set report filter criteria on matching two fields with each other. This could dramatically help reduce data sets and increase the fidelity of some reports.

Thanks for posting. The ability to compare two fields in a single filter is a really handy one which can improve the experience of reporting for quite a few usecases.
Unfortunately this is a limitation which rises from the core design of reporting and is very hard to provide. We will internally re-evaluate what does it take to allow adding multiple fields in filter.
At the very least, perhaps leveraging SF fields only? Thank you for reviewing and consideraton on this... it could be very powerful.
