Success Plans and Horizon Rules

Being able to update Success Plans via rules is great. However, there are a few pain points that make using the Success Plan action a real chore:

  • Success Plan Type needs to be Active in order to be selected in Rule action. This really makes data cleanup a pain, as you have to re-activate a Success Plan type, add it to your rule, run the rule, then deactivate it again. Not user friendly.
  • You cannot close a Success Plan via rule action if it is in “Draft” status. If you’re doing any bulk data management, this means you need to have a rule to set them all to active, and THEN to closed. This makes absolutely no sense and again, not user friendly.

You can likely get around these with the Success Plan API, but if you’re looking to make the product easier to use and more user friendly, then out of the box actions that let you complete the tasks you need to is a good place to start.

Oof -- this sounds very similar to the issues we’ve run into with deleting paused JO programs in the past, especially if we don’t want new participants to flow through them. If we want to delete something, there shouldn’t be a reason to jump through hoops just because it wasn’t turned off the right way.
