At Gainsight, we are passionate about developing solutions that foster synergy between Customer Success and Product Management teams. As part of this ongoing endeavor, we integrated Productboard and subsequently included Aha! with our April Release. As we develop our roadmap, we’d like to further understand what Product Management tools your company is using.

Thank you to everyone who responded to our initial post regarding this topic. We are targeting more data in a way that will be easier for us to consume, so we’d greatly appreciate it if you could respond again via the poll below.

*If your organization uses Productboard or Aha!, we’d still love your input. If your organization uses more than one tool, please include the other in the comments as multi-select polling is not an option at this time.

I am a bit curious - can you please share how the flow works? Where would you input a request? Product Board or Jira? From where do you know when a feature will be released? Product Board or Jira? What system does non engineering, wider company have access to?

Hi @rakesh! Productboard for us is customer facing, also the wider, non-engineering teams look at Productboard. Jira on the other hand is what engineering uses to break down features into stories and epics (we use Scrum).

So the workflow is: Request is added in Productboard (by a customer or internally), here they can be upvoted which contributes to priorization. Once selected for development, the Product Managers / Engineering Managers work on breaking it down to actual tasks in Jira, so the engineering team can work on them. Upcoming features can be seen on Productboard on a high level. Once released, customers who voted for that specific feature on Productboard, get notified through Productboard.

So for Roadmap Planning, as your question states, Productboard would be the right answer I guess, as this is our external facing tool.

“Customer facing” Feature begins in ProductBoard

Engineering work is broken down in JIRA, linked to ProductBoard to retain visibility to progress, etc.

Engineering releases the “Feature” to Product/Product Marketing

Product Marketing Launches the feature to our customers using Productboard

Wider organization would be referencing Productboard

We use Trello and Jira, but I don’t see a trello option.

Trello for big and future projects Jira for more of a support ticketing system.
