Better Accessibility Support on Engagement Image Badges

Related products: PX Engagements

Hello!

Some of our Gainsight PX engagements are triggered by a custom badge that uses an Image URL.

Due to the image having no HTML alt attribute, the badge is not recognised appropriately with accessibly devices, such as screen readers.

When adding/editing the badge, having the option to input an image description would help in meeting some of our accessibility requirements.

Thanks.

Hi @andrew.schadendorff ,

Does the Badge not appear or the image shows some error on the screen readers? Are user’s not able to identify that there exists a badge and hence not able to trigger the associated engagement?

In the meanwhile, we will look at exposing Badge’s alternate text like we did for images.

Hi @aharkut, apology for the late follow up. I’m taking over from Andrew for this ticket.

Screen readers are not able to read the badge as there’s no alternative text for it, hence reducing our accessibility compliance level. There has not been a recorded case of user not being able to trigger the engagement yet.

An update on exposing Badge’s alternative text, similar to images, is appreciated.

Hi @mai.le ,

We have started working on this and will be available soon on the product. When it is released, I will provide an update here too.

Thanks,

Abhilash

Hi @mai.le - this has been released as part of the November items. Please check the release notes; under accessibility you will find the notes for Alternate text for badges.

Thanks,

Abhilash
