January 28 is Privacy Day - let's discuss data protection best practices
Hey Everyone,Tomorrow (January 28th) is Privacy Day (or Data Protection Day). And no it’s not a GDPR thing. It’s actually much older: 2007 when the Facebook, YouTube or Google Analytics of the world were about 2 years old. H***, Gainsight wasn’t even born yet 😅. Now in 2023, there are ton of new privacy regulations popping up worldwide - in the US, since most of you fellow contributors are US-based, it involves California’s CCPA becoming the CPRA and Virginia, Connecticut, Colorado and Utah to name those I’m personally aware of. Even third-party 🍪 are dead. Not mentioning the long awaited ‘updates’ to the EU ePrivacy Directive or Regulation (or whatever they’ll end up calling it, but could change a lot about what’s acceptable (or not). I find this day to be a good time for all of us system owners to stop and have a look at how we and our teams live by the Privacy by Design principles* we (should) have embedded into our CS Ops practices. For me it generally spreads two pillars:Governan
Picklist field sunc missing in connectors.
Hi Team,We had picklist sync job in connectors 1.0 that made our life easy but with connectors 2.0. I don’t see that option to sync newly added picklist values from SFDC to Gainsight. Could you suggest best approach to handle this situation of syncing new values added in SFDC to be synced to GAinsight.
Tags to be added as a mass
Is it possible to add Tags as a mass? The use case is, that we want to put customers to certain baskets (based on their release waves as an example) and adding a tag one by one is time consuming, as each of the accounts needs to be opened into the Edit-mode.Am I over-looking some easy trick to do this?
Add Record Via CSV option is not appearing
We mainly use the Salesforce connector to ingest new Company records, however, we have a new subsidiary that is not yet in Salesforce, so I need to add via CSV. In #3, when IO click Add Record, there is no option to Upload CSV File.Navigate to Administration > Data Management. Click the name of the required object and click the Data tab. Click Add Record and select Upload CSV file. In case of high volume custom objects, click Add Record via CSV. In the Add Record via CSV file slide-out panel, you can either drag and drop the file, or click browse to select the required file from your computer. The maximum permissible file size is 1 MB. Note: Gainsight recommends that you first download the Sample CSV f
Why is Connectors 2.0 area so unstable?
Connectors area in Gainsight seems to be unstable. More often than should be acceptable I come into Connectors area and it refuses to load… What can be done so that this is more stable/reliable? I’ve already moved Company Person syncs out of Connectors… guess I’m gonna have to move them all out.
Google Big Query Connector Improvements
First off, it was great to see more data designer like functionality being put into this connector. Hopefully one day we will just have one tool to pull data in and transform it. While we really like the new transform capability in this connector, it would be great to have more of the data designer like capability. This includes doing group by, previews, and numeric expression derived fields. Are there plans to continue to enhance this connector with more of this capability?
Ability to Fetch Tags in Gainsight from Zendesk
Hi Team, I just migrated to the Zendesk connector 2.0 however I don’t seem to find the field tag in the Zendesk tickets object to fetch it to Gainsight. I want to track Support Ticket Escalation as a Risk Status in Healthscore. To do so, I will need to get the tag field to Gainsight. Is this possible?
SFDC Integration: Rules Engine, Real-time rules, Connector 2.0
I am struggling to understand a couple of things around the SFDC and Gainsight integration. It seems that there are 3 methods of integration. Connector 2.0 Rules Engine (Bionic Rules) Real-Time Rules I am struggling to understand the use case for using each one of these.

Map users - email to SFDC Account ID - via Person object
Hi, Now we have Person Object part of every C360 and R360, our CSMs add new users and assign them to various accounts where relationships exist. So one user (email address) can be part of multiple C360s as well as R360s. We have several other objects where we store users data using their email address e.g. product usage stats and webinars. Historically, we would always load SFDC Account ID as part of every object – this field would come prepopulated via our data lake and the mapping would have been done either before in enters the data lake or in the data lake so it would be already available in the dataset when it comes to Gainsight. But now, we manage users mapping via Person object, I’d like to switch the “email -> SFDC Account ID” mapping to reflect the one in Company Person/Relationship Person. In other words, if a contact is associated with 5 different C360s and they attend a webinar, I would like this information to appear in all 5 C360s (multiplied), without

Loading Historical Usage to Existing Usage Table
During our initial implementation we created a usage table that's populated via an S3 ingest job. We recently added a phase 2 for metrics to include in the existing table, which are new columns that have been added to the table. Future data files will map to the new columns, but we are looking to backfill historical data for the new columns. In order to backfill historical data for the new metrics, I wanted to check if there is a best way to do this that keeps the existing metrics as is and only updates the new columns with the historical data. My initial thinking is to create an S3 ingest rule that uses Date and SFDC ID as the unique identifiers, and only map the columns I want to upsert, leaving all other columns I want unchanged as "None." Would this be the best way to accomplish this?
Introduction to Adoption Explorer (SFDC Edition)
Adoption Explorer helps manage your customer’s usage data in the Gainsight environment, and quickly surface the most relevant view of usage data across your customer base. Adoption Explorer offers powerful segmentation capabilities to manage multiple product lines, more robust control of aggregations and calculations, and totally re-imagined visualizations to surface deep insights. Customer’s usage data at Company and/or Person level can be stored at both daily and weekly level along with their entitlements. Using the ingested data, admins can define new derived fields without the need of Rules Engine. This 11-minute video provides an overview of Adoption Explorer. The video focuses on how to configure a project in Adoption Explorer, and how to enable it on C360. For detailed documentation on Adoption Explorer, refer Adoption Explorer Docs.

Tip of the Week: Build Reports on Sponsor Tracking
If you and your team have started using Sponsor Tracking, it would be helpful to set up different reports and views to display information about sponsors across customers. This is especially helpful to ensure sponsors are being tracked for each of your customers, identify gaps of sponsors in key accounts and drive action. Follow these simple steps to set up one such report: Step 1: Go into “Report Builder” and select “Sponsor Tracking” from the data source. In the “Show me” field include the Contact Name and in the “By” field, include Account Name, CSM Name and other relevant data. Step 2: Run and save your report. You can also add this report into a [url=https://support.gainsight.com/hc/en-us/
A new Rule has an email for failure but in Audit it says No failure email is configured.
I happen to notice something as I'm updating our old Custom rules to Bionic rules. I have included my email in the 'on failure' in the schedule for a rule created today but the analyzer says none has been configured. I like that it mentions it hasn't failed in the last 7 days but could it check for the email before then? I.e. a new rule that runs daily and someone doesn't add their email for failure, it can be failing for a week before anyone notices. Not sure what the total expectation is or maybe this could be converted to an idea. Thanks!

Use "OR" logic instead of "AND" when selecting key fields to identify unique records in connectors 1.0
Hi Team, One of our customer is looking to use Use "OR" instead of "AND" when selecting key fields to identify unique records in connector 1.0 jobs. Current Behaviour: When setting up an Ingest Job, we have two Unique Identifiers from two different systems. Currently it is erroring out when one or the other is missing. Expectation: Create the Gainsight record with either Unique ID’s. Please see below for which key fields we have selected to identify unique records. Here’s the SS : https://share.getcloudapp.com/NQuZGGWb Please let us know your thoughts on this requirement. Best, Hardik
