In regards to attaching files in Timeline - Currently, the system is limited to certain file types, and we cannot attach Outlook email messages. Will .msg be a file type that we can add as an attachment in Timeline in the future?
Hi Tharun!

This is something that we would LOVE!

I have seen one more customer requesting this with a business case to have this feature enabled.
Thanks for the post. This is definitely on our roadmap. ETA to be decided.
We are also receiving requests to attach .CSV files to timeline activities from users. Can we also add CSV files as an attachment in Timeline in future?
After enhancing attachments we will start supporting almost all file types.
This reply was created from a merged topic originally titled Update timeline with .eml file types..

Currently you can update timeline activities with these file types -?.jpg,.jpg,.gif,.png, bmp, pdf, doc, docx, txt, ppt, pptx, xls, xlsx.

It might be cool to have .eml as an option as well if someone would like to attach an email that they received externally.

@andrew_biehle @nitisha_rathi is there anything on the Roadmap regarding further supported file types? .zip file compatibility would be great, and a time saver when it comes to having to upload multiple files to a Timeline activity.

I’ve seen it mentioned previously also, but audio file format support would be great. Being able to attach recorded calls to key moments in a customer Timeline can be great for reference, and also a great tool for internal company training.

We will add this in the next 2-3 months

@nitisha_rathi looking forward to finding out more here.  Timeline doesn’t accept visio filetypes (.vsdx, .vdx, etc) either.  This is a common file type to attach.

Hi All,

We will satrt supporting jpg, jpeg, gif, png, bmp, pdf, doc, docx, txt, ppt, pptx, xls, xlsx, xlsm, csv, msg, eml, avi, flv, wmv, mov, mp4, wav, aiff, flac, alac, mp3, aac, wma, ogg files starting Sep release.

@darkknight Apart from .vsdx, .vdx any other file type which you think would be required?

@nitisha_rathi Thanks for the update!

Please add .zip and .html to the list of allowable file extensions.

Within my company we generate customer reports as single page html files. These html files contain rich javascript functionality so converting to PDF is not an option. We need to upload these reports as a part of our customer’s timeline. If we have multiple html reports to upload it would be great to zip them up before uploading.

The team has security concerns around allowing .zip extension in Timeline. We will try to find the solution but may not be available in the short term.
