Create warning when export exceed limits

The limitations for exports do not inform the user if there is data that is cut off due to the size. It would be extremely helpful to have a warning. Many of our users did not realize their exports were being cut off which leads to panic when needing to make last minute changes to presentations. This is especially common when we export usage data for Business Reviews that usually have usage for 6 months to 1 year.

 

We implemented a work around to have data exported to Domo and then we pull from there. However, it would be very useful and helpful to have a warning so that users know they need to pull the larger data set elsewhere.

The challenge here is that we do not have a clear indication of if the export will fail or not. This depends on multiple factors such as: 

  • Number of records - Max 100,000 records (easy to handle)
  • Size of the file - 15 MB 

The size is hard to handle because it would depend on the number of columns, data type of columns and other factors which we only know when the export has failed. We cannot predict it. 

 

On the other hand, can you explain if downloading the file is a recurring theme? In which case, I think Success Snapshots can help in that scenario to jumpstart the review prep  @rahul_prayakarao
