Under Consideration

Allow inline editing in tabular reports

It would be great to be able to view a tabular report, ie cases, opportunities, projects, etc. and be able to simply click on the cell in the tabular report, edit the cell, and have that update the associated object record.

Hi everyone,

I understand the efficiency gains we get via this inline editing. @muralikrishnagopu  is working on an awesome editing experience for Company/Relationships.

I have one question regarding this: What all areas do CSM’s want to update? Is there a need to support it for (low volume) custom objects too?

Hi @rakesh - I think we should assume that admins want to have the ability to edit every field on every object (obviously excepting system objects and other hard limitations like that). This would be a big-time game-changer, as all the comments and upvotes on this post indicate. I think we should think big rather than just providing a half-measure of an editing experience only on the company and relationship objects.

@spencer_engel agree. We will most likely have a phased release here, but will consider a holistic approach to the solution. cc: @pgeorge

I would agree. It would be better if there were no limitations on the type of object. I use low volume objects all the time because its the only type for new objects that CSMs can view the records.

@dan_ahrens - do you know if this on any future roadmap?

@jean.nairon it is something that the team is planning on doing, but exact ETA is not determined at this time. There are a number of technical complexities especially when dealing with reports that can be transformations and combinations of base data.

@dan_ahrens does this happen to be coming with the Reporting Horizon experience? @lindseyyoung5 @ashleyyoung @jamieordway @jesse_reyes throw some votes on here please!!

Unfortunately this is not part of Horizon Analytics. Sorry.

I thought I heard somewhere that inline report editing for company attributes is possible with Horizon Analytics -- did I misunderstand or is this still a “coming soon” feature?

In Gainsight Home, we have released a “My Portfolio” widget - where editing company attributes inline is already possible. We are working on adding this widget to Dashboards as well.

I have had 2 clients in the past week ask for in-line editing on tabular reports on any dashboard.

Love this but would very much like people ability to do in-line editing controlled by user permission sets and not just some global on/off please :)

@rakesh being able to edit fields in-line from dashboard reports would be a HUGE benefit and problem solve. it doesn’t help us to have Gainsight as our CS source of truth if our CSM still has to go to the SFDC page to make an update.

AGREED!!!

Any updates here? I would love to see this functionality when management needs to make new account assignments based on CSM departures or team changes. I am doing the same thing as Curtis with the excel export and re-upload.

+1 to this, we would love to be able to in line edit reports, especially ones that are referencing low volume objects. We have several use cases for this.

I know that we can do some in line editing on the porfolio for the company object, and that’s great! But we have a few low volume objects that could greatly benefit from this.

We have one particular thing that we are tracking in a custom low volume object that is very important. Right now the experience for CSMs to update information is that they have to go to each relationship 360, navigate to the section where we store this information, click into the edit button and update. Then go to the next relationship and do the same thing. For our low-touch CSMs they could have lots of updates to make and it is a very slow and tedious process. Would love tabular reports to be editable in-line!

@rakesh may we please have an update on generally when we can expect in-line editing on dashboards? It’s a growing need. Thx

This would be very valuable to my CS team. Especially our launch managers who have to manage a lot of moving parts via several fields.
