Allow filtering of Timeline activities that get synced to Salesforce

Right now we essentially have an “all or nothing” Timeline activity sync back to either Task or Event object in SFDC. It would be nice if we allowed customers to filter which Timeline activities they want to sync back.

Use case: One customer I recently talked to had a certain activity that they only want to sync to Events but the rest should go to Tasks. They’d like to still use the out of the box sync because of its real-time capability while having a rule that pushes the other activities to the Event object.

@spencer_engel Thanks for sharing. This is not planned in the short-medium term. Rules is the best solution for this use-case until we implement it in the product.

I’ve encountered this is as well. If the customer uses a Calendar function in SFDC, then things like Meetings should be logged as Events but things like Emails should be logged as Tasks.

+1 for adding a Filtering option on what gets synced to SF from Timeline.

We need this functionality to either exclude some types from timeline entries from syncing to SFDC or to have the ability to sync some as Tasks and some as Events. It is impacting adoption of Gainsight when our team is required to enter meetings in Salesforce since all of our Timeline entries are syncing as Tasks.
