Net Promoter Survey issues with Outlook (Office 365)

I'm struggling with how the Gainsight NPS renders in Outlook. I really like the in-line response. but we also are asking a follow-on question and it's not obvious that the recipient should click on the highlighted number (see linked image). I've been told this is a known issue but has anyone found a good workaround?

My 2 cents - it's very biasing to show color coded responses and is best practice to not do so. If you select the neutral in-line response, it is more obvious that each number is a clickable link.
