Gainsight in the Lightning Experience

As Salesforce moves more and more towards the Lightning Experience UI (away from Salesforce Classic), it’s helpful to understand a few navigational changes. Most of the navigation under the blue Gainsight banner in Lightning Experience should look very similar to the Classic view. The navigation of tabs and menus above the banner have all been updated.


Switching Between Classic and Lightning

 

Users shouldn't need to toggle between the Classic and Lightning modes in SFDC, but for informational purposes, we're still sharing the following instructions. If your organization has enabled the Lightning Experience, users can switch back to the Classic mode by navigating to the Switcher. In Salesforce Classic, click your name in the upper right corner, and select Switch to Lightning Experience from the menu.

In Lightning Experience, click your profile picture in the upper right corner, and select Switch to Salesforce Classic from the menu.

Access Gainsight App and Associated Tabs in Lightning

 

If you’re using Lightning Experience, you can find both the Gainsight App and its tabs under the color grid in the top left corner:

This is in contrast to the Salesforce Classic locations of both the Gainsight App and tabs:

Chevron For Collapsing Tabs No Longer Exists

In Lightning Experience, the chevron for collapsing tabs is no longer available.

Setup: Gear Icon Instead of Dropdown


In Lightning Experience, Salesforce Setup is now available via the Gear icon at the top right corner of the page. You no longer need to click a dropdown next to the user’s name like in Salesforce Classic.

Gainsight Widget Support

The Gainsight Widget can be enabled on an account or opportunity page in Lightning Experience. To access the Gainsight Widget, navigate to a Salesforce account page. Click the Details tab and scroll down to see the Gainsight Widget. Click the arrow next to the Widget to expand the view if the data is collapsed.

Custom Objects: Object Manager


In order to access Gainsight custom objects through Salesforce Setup in Lightning Experience, navigate to Setup (as shown above) > Object Manager. This is different from Salesforce Classic where you navigate to Create > Objects.

New Layout for Custom Objects


Within the UI of a custom object, access to the different components (such as standard and custom fields, page layouts, etc.) is located in the left column:

FAQ’s

What will happen to Gainsight as we migrate to Lightning?

Generally speaking, everything should work as is. There are a few bugs that we encounter and fix every now and then, but it's safe to use Gainsight in Lightning mode.


Will Gainsight support Lightning components?

It's on our roadmap to evaluate and move to Lightning components (versus Visualforce like we use today), based on requirements and use-cases. In the meantime, we will keep improving our existing pages to make sure our UI fits nicely into all Lightning layouts.
